The Nevada Behavioral Health Workforce Data Dashboard provides a county-level view of behavioral health providers across Nevada, helping users understand how the workforce is distributed statewide. It is designed for policymakers, healthcare organizations, and community partners to support data-informed planning and decision making. By showing where services are available and where gaps exist, this tool helps guide efforts to improve access to care, strengthen the workforce, and better meet the behavioral health needs of communities across the state.

Acknowledgment: BeHERE NV thanks the Nevada behavioral health licensing boards, the Office of Statewide Initiatives, and UNR Public Health Graduate Intern (2025), Oluwapelumi Odubunmi, for their data, collaboration, and support in the development of this data dashboard.

  • General
  • Counts vs. Density
  • Locations
  • Limitations

This dashboard is based on a comprehensive collection of behavioral health workforce licensing data pulled in mid year 2025. Data was obtained from multiple Nevada licensing boards that govern behavioral health professions, including:

  • Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors
  • Nevada Applied Behavior Analysis Board
  • Nevada Certification Board
  • Board of Examiners for Social Workers
  • Board of Psychological Examiners
  • Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors
  • Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine

These sources provide the most recent operational license information on behavioral health professionals practicing in Nevada as of mid 2025.

All visual counts and density figures are based on the number of active licenses in each county, not the number of unique individuals. Some professionals hold multiple licenses, so a single provider may appear in more than one license category.

  • License Count is the total number of valid licenses by county.
  • Provider Density is calculated as the number of licenses per 100,000 residents in the county. Higher density values indicate a greater concentration of licensed behavioral health professionals relative to the county population, which can suggest better local access to care.

County assignments are based on the addresses reported to the licensing boards. These addresses may represent a practice location, a home address, or another mailing address.

Urban and Rural/Frontier Designations

County classifications are based on the Office of Statewide Initiatives (OSI) Nevada Rural and Frontier Health Data Book and the National Center for Frontier Communities (NCFC) classification scheme:

Urban (Metropolitan) Counties

  • Carson City
  • Clark County
  • Washoe County

Rural/Frontier Counties

  • Churchill County
  • Douglas County
  • Elko County
  • Esmeralda County
  • Eureka County
  • Humboldt County
  • Lander County
  • Lincoln County
  • Lyon County
  • Mineral County
  • Nye County
  • Pershing County
  • Storey County
  • White Pine County

Urban counties are tied to metropolitan areas with an urban core of 50,000 or more, while rural/frontier counties are outside large metropolitan cores, including micropolitan areas (urban core 10,000–49,999) or counties with smaller populations.

  • Counts reflect licenses held, not the number of uniquely practicing providers.
  • Reported addresses may not accurately represent where providers see clients; some may be home or mailing addresses rather than actual practice locations.
  • Variations in how boards collect address information can affect county assignment.
  • Telehealth providers are not included in this dashboard. For telehealth workforce information, see the Nevada Office of Analytics telehealth dashboard.
